Oi

it's been a very sad
tragic weekend
jed's best mate
harro
passed

unbelievably sad
too young

doctors careless
seems like
malpractice

terrible loss to jed
and to us

knowing that he has
been a true friend
who stood with him
against all of the negativity
he was a true
and loyal
comrade
i weep for his loss
i weep for my son's loss
i weep for the young life not lived
dreams dreamt but never realised

this is an incredible grief burden
too much to bear
it seems
too much to bear

kmart reflection

i looked in the mirror
just accidentally
saw myself as the older woman
that i am
kmart mirror
redefined my world
i saw myself in the eyes
of others
i understood
at last the woman has grown
into her skin
at peace

Systems

Want to tell you a story
Not new
Same old stuff
Happy
Sad
Forgiven
Forgotten
Tears
Kisses
Lost and lonely
Desperate
And as a consequence
Open
A
Breeze blows in new blood
Old blood
Feels new
Old heart
Feels young
Old feelings
Burn
A hole in my world

placebo

trapped
in a chatter cage
no rest of the senses
constant and sustained
noise
gets so loud and unbearable
it's so repetitive
so rat a tat a tat
the rhythm, cadence, pitch
all the same.
said many hundreds of times
but claimed to be never heard

bang my head on wall
pull at my hair
silently internally shout
back
shout back
shout
SHOUT
..
it acts as a placebo

politics

leaning left
poor childhood
working is life
blood of the worker
creates the world
money belongs to exploiters
of labour
and those who start at the bottom
have trouble
changing their head to accommodate
success in someone else's world

flat horizon

istanbul
or somewhere like that
the streets are earth
no paving here
people
not like me
not in looks anyway
pasty me
filled with white life
safe without
knowing unsafe

filed
under
a
morning
call
to
prayer
