fair trade

feeling on top of things
but underneath other things
someone told me today that
nigeria has a very large flower export market
but it's suffering because of the way that green economics is marketed
everything is so complicated now
once you just grew
or picked from someone else's garden
or bought from the florist
or the person down the street
some flowers that were in season in your part of the world
now we worry about economies in places we may never have been
fair trade
i think it's the right thing to do
but how fair is fair
how do we know we have the right facts
all the world
all the flowers
all the money
all the hope
and we're still being manipulated
we're all leaders to someone.
but where are we leading to?
i don't want people in nigeria to starve.. i don't want to have no money to pay my rent.
i don't want people to be assaulted and robbed of their freedom. i want to have the guts to do what i want with my own life.
all these things are so obvious, but they don't happen. i can think of a million reasons, but i don't want to hear them. i only want to make a difference - a positive difference to those around me.

cloud of pain

i often wonder how are we supposed to live normally
when we know that on the other side of the world people are being bombed shot and killed
and half way across the other side of the world people are dying from starvation
children are being trained to kill people
i know the answer,
we let it be in the background
we read the headlines
read the international news
watch the tv news
radio news
listen to experts.. what is going to stop it. do they all get killed... can't work because the war is bred into the new generation.
do they know it.. do they wonder about life without it..
it's their pain, but it's our pain
it's creating a huge cloud of pain that envelops the whole of humanity

the tune of a faroff explosion

Cream white beige float drift fly soft gentle pliable
were the only qualities she desired
but then she met her alter ego on the stairs and everything changed
red blood heart run fall wrestle tough rough rumble
to the tune of a faroff explosion
suns colliding don't make a noise for light years
shockwaves oceanwaves soundwaves
locking in time with her beating heart
she found the truth

weeds

following the outmoded beating of a lonely heart doesnt lead to any new places, times need to be changed by definitive action.
to do that a decision must be reached. that's where things get harder... well easier and harder. because its easy to make decisions, but then it's just as easy to change your mind. it's easy to go with the flow too, and it's easy to just get left behind. writing out the options is a waste of time, but just writing and letting the force dictate the way hasnt worked yet either, correction - it has worked, but i want to take control. delineate the best and the worst and then aim for the most desirable place. cut down the weeds that've grown over heart and grow a new limb of self compassion and love.. call out to the angels and listen for their replies. feeling good.. is a state of mind and it's contagious.

whispers

filling in the holes in my imagination
seems to take a lot of time
mostly it's the procrastination
and other days
it's just
i'm dreaming of answers
but the questions do not come
knocking on doors without handles
looking
watching
seeking
all the options shout at me
i whisper back 'I'm fine'

answers from above and below

it's over in a flash and then everything's changed forever
did you think about that?
yes, but you couldn't load all of the variations so you thought it'll be ok
it'll all work out
well will it?
was it worth the risk?
answers still to come..

look at the funny face
see it laugh
see it cry
follow the line of the cheek
til you look into the eye
wink
smile
look
and make small talk
or big talk
make promises

feel
